Portable mobility buggies will fit into most cars, disassembling in up to five separate pieces. The portable mobility scooters and portable lightweight wheelchairs are designed to be easy to re-assemble, and are now very light and easy to use.

Portable mobility scooters come in various sizes, with the Sapphire 2 mobility scooter carrying up to 23.5 stone in weight. Other transportable scooters are particularly light and can be lifted into the car by able people, often without splitting into components, such as the Rascal XL 355, which also has excellent legroom. These scooters usually have either 10, 12 or 17 amp batteries and have a range of 8 – 12 miles on one charge. The larger portables will offer a range of up to 16 miles. If they are less than 60 Kg. in weight, they can be flown by Easy Jet at no charge, if booked at the same time as your ticket. Please check with your own carrier for their limits. The writer has taken hers abroad on many occasions.

These disability scooters make life so much easier for shopping, trips with the family and days out, and some people find the three wheel versions easier to use around their home than a wheelchair.
